dkstudio was commissioned to design the interiors for this six-storey new apartment building in the upcoming Etobicoke Queensway district in Toronto. The Hive is a boutique residence featuring 20 unique lofts of varying sizes from bachelor units to multi-bedrooms with dens. In line with the bold building design that features angled black metal cladding that wraps the structure on a sharp angle, the interior design is crisp and modern with a focus on clean lines and transparency. A light material palette of stained ash flooring with white oak cabinets defines the kitchen and millwork. The design and its expressed materiality, together with full height glazing and exposed concrete ceilings enter into a clear dialogue with the raw architecture of the building.
